The AI assistant

The AI assistant helps with the writing and sorting. Nothing is sent without you: everything it writes is shown first, and is yours to edit.

• Reply labels: new replies are sorted (interested, meeting, not now, not interested, out of office, wrong person, unsubscribe). A label you set yourself is never changed.
• First lines: a personal opening sentence for each lead, from what your list says about them, for the {{first_line}} merge tag.
• Draft a sequence: a first email and follow-ups from your website and who you want to reach.
• Write with AI: a new email from a short brief, or the one you are editing made shorter, friendlier, more formal, clearer or more convincing.

Which AI it uses

Settings → AI assistant has two choices. The platform's AI comes with your plan and needs nothing set up. Your own key lets you use your own account with an AI service, on any plan, with no monthly limit from us: you pay the service directly, usually a few cents for hundreds of requests.

Using your own key

1. Open Settings → AI assistant and choose “Use our own AI key”.
2. Pick the service: Anthropic (Claude), OpenAI (GPT), Google Gemini, or an OpenAI-compatible one (Groq, Mistral, DeepSeek, OpenRouter, xAI, Together, or any other by its address).
3. Paste the API key from that service. It is kept encrypted and never shown again.
4. Choose a model, or press Load models to list the ones your key can use.
5. Press Test: the model answers one tiny question. Then save.

If your key stops working (a wrong key, no credit left, too many requests), the AI features tell you why. We never switch to our AI in its place, so nothing is used or charged without you knowing. Remove your key at any time to go back to the platform's AI.

Monthly AI uses

With the platform's AI, each plan includes a number of AI uses a month (see Pricing). One use is one request: one reply labelled, one batch of up to 20 first lines, one sequence draft, or one email written or improved. Settings → AI assistant and Settings → Plan show how many are left. When they are used up, the AI features stop until the next month, or until you add your own key. Requests that fail aren't counted.

Write with AI

In Templates, open a plain-text email and press Write with AI above the message. Write a new one from a brief (say what it is about, who it is for and the facts to include), or improve the one in the editor. The result is shown next to your version; Use this puts it in the editor, and you save as usual. Your merge tags are kept, and the AI isn't allowed to add links or tags you didn't have.

Your data

Only what a job needs is sent: the reply being labelled, the details of the leads getting first lines, or the email being written. The AI services we connect to through their APIs don't train on what is sent through them. With your own key, your agreement with that service applies.
